The Jacksonville Beach Church of Christ is a family of believers who are a part of what many call the "Restoration Movement." This movement began on the American Frontier and took Jesus call for unity among all Christians very seriously. Restoration churches sought to find common ground among all believers using the Bible as the only authority. The Jacksonville Beach Church of Christ comes from that tradition and heritage. Within this church we are unified in the essentials (One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism) but there is wide diversity on other issues. We like to say, "In matters of essentials, unity, in matters of opinion, liberty, in all things, love."
Our worship is informal in nature, with many of the prayers and devotionals presented by lay members. Our music is a blend of traditional a capella music and contemporary instrumental. Our minister will deliver an inspirational, bible-based sermon.
James "Buster" Collins is the proud father of 3 children Eaden, Jimmy, and Warner.
He has been in ministry for 18 years serving as a chaplain's assistant, youth minister,
and preaching minister.
James holds a degree in Bible and Religion from Harding University.
A rare native of Florida, James was raised in Jacksonville and is a product of
the Jacksonville Beach Church of Christ where many have known him since his childhood
and have always called him, "Buster." James is passionate about the Lord's work and
has a heart for the lost. He strives to "be real" in the ministry, often sharing his
own struggles with others who are on this journey with him.
In his spare time he enjoys outdoor activities with his children such as
baseball, fishing, or anything that has to do with water. He enjoys rooting for his
beloved Gators as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars.
There is one true God, existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. These are equal and are one God. God created the world out of nothing and by his power he sustains all he has created. (Genesis 1:26, John 1:1)
Jesus was born of the virgin Mary entering this world full human without ceasing to be God. Jesus lived a sinless life because He did not come from the seed of man. In this life Jesus performed miracles pointing to his deity as the Son of God. Jesus gave the Father what he truly wanted: absolute obedience, embodied in the flesh, and died on the cross. Jesus was raised from death after three days showing Himself to many disciples before he ascended. (Luke 1:35, John 1:1-34, Hebrews 10:4-10, Matthew 28:1-10)
