Roniger, M.D., a New Orleans native, is a graduate of Jesuit High School (Honors Curriculum), Tulane University (Baseball Scholarship), and LSU Medical School, all in New Orleans. He did a rotating internship at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco and then served on active duty in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as an anesthesiologist, serving primarily at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe Hospital in Belgium. Dr. Roniger then trained in psychiatry at the Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, became board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1977, and was in private practice in Baltimore until returning to New Orleans in 1981.
