Who We Are
At Cathedral School for Boys, we believe in a future where every boy experiences the joy of meaningful connections and the fulfillment of personal and intellectual growth — a vision that drives us to raise the bar in boys’ education.
Every day, we challenge ourselves to expand our minds, practice empathy, and lead with purpose, ensuring we are prepared for the lives ahead of us.
By fostering intellect, character, and leadership, we shape the exemplary young men our world needs.

What does it take to thrive in middle school? This week’s summer campers are finding out — through exponential equations, writing workshops, acts of service, and plenty of teamwork.
From bagging groceries at City Hope to serving meals at GLIDE, from graphing data to crafting paragraphs, our rising fifth and sixth graders have been stretching their minds, using their voices, and leading with purpose.
This is what it looks like to grow into the exemplary young men our world needs. 💛
This week, Fr. Timothy and Mr. Mundy are leading Cathedral School students and families on a summer adventure along Ireland’s rugged western coast—where ancient ruins, rolling hills, and cold ocean waters set the scene for exploration and reflection.
From seaside cliffs to stone forts, they’re hiking, paddling, learning, and laughing—diving into Ireland’s rich cultural history while building community and confidence along the way. The group is covering miles each day (fog included, just like home) and ending each evening with shared meals and good conversation.
At Cathedral, learning doesn’t stop at the school doors, the city limits, or even the start of summer. It simply takes new shape across landscapes, generations, and unforgettable days like these.
From sunflowers and zinnias to strawberries and corn, our rooftop garden is thriving thanks to the tender care given it by summer staff. Our community garden is about more than the plants that our teachers and students grow there. It’s about purpose. Every raised bed supports hands-on learning in science, sustainability, and stewardship. Hope every is having a bright and fragrant summer!
Twelve miles a day, zero bars of service, and endless lessons in leadership.
Mr. Rahlson, director of Upper School, and 11 rising Grade 8 students just returned from an 8-day NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) canoe expedition through Labyrinth Canyon on Utah’s Green River. Over the course of 70 miles, the boys paddled in pairs, set up shelters, cooked their own meals, and navigated the heat, currents, and quiet of the desert. With canyon walls towering around them — and no screens in sight — they learned to lead through action, support one another, and adapt to challenges as they came.
Each night under the stars brought new skills, deeper trust, and a growing sense of what it means to lead. #OutdoorEducation #CSBLeadership #ChallengeBuildsCharacter @nolsedu
