Dominican is the perfect school for me because I wanted the ultimate high school experience with an excellent curriculum. Not only does Dominican challenge me and prepare me for college, but it has also created opportunities to build lifelong memories and friendships I will always cherish.

The pillar of Community means the most to me because it represents the lifelong friendships I have made at Dominican. Before I started high school, I always heard about the Dominican sisterhood and wanted to be a part of it. Now as a student, I am proud to be a part of the strong Dominican community that values friendship, education, and service to others.

Cross Country/Track and Field
The Cross Country and Track teams bring me strong, rare community bonds that I wouldn't find anywhere else. I love being able to forget about stress and talk to my supportive, outgoing, and welcoming teammates. They are part of what makes Dominican a unique safe space for me. In addition to my classmates, my teachers truly care about every student and put in so much effort to help us each make academic progress.

The pillar of Prayer means the most to me as a Dominican student. I love that our mornings, led by Mrs. Favre, start with prayer as a school community and that each class also begins with prayer. The Student Preachers start our afternoon classes with a beautiful reflection and prayer that I always look forward to.
Addison Ory
Student Ambassador
Out of the four pillars of Dominican, Prayer stands out the most to me. In order to help me deepen my faith, Dominican offers several opportunities for spiritual growth. The weekly masses, daily prayer, and clubs help me draw closer to the Lord.

Dominican was always a top choice; however, spending the day made me realize this was the school I needed. I saw the wonderful atmosphere and the strong relationships this school creates between students and teachers.
Mia Rabalais
Student Preachers
Prayer has truly transformed me into the best student, daughter, and friend I can be. I am so grateful to be part of a team that has strengthened my relationship with Christ and encouraged me to pray more. Whether at school Mass or listening to afternoon prayer, I am constantly reminded of God's truth here at Dominican.

You’re not just choosing a school. You’re choosing a community that’s going to support you, challenge you, and help you reach your fullest potential. Dominican is more than just academics; it’s a place where you’ll create lasting friendships, find your passions, and truly belong. Plus, the atmosphere is welcoming and positive, which makes coming to school something to look forward to every day. If you want a high school experience where you can truly be yourself and thrive, Dominican is the place for you.

Out of all the four pillars of Dominican, I would say the pillar of Community means the most to me. When I first attended Dominican, I was quickly invited to be part of this sisterhood. Through cheering for Dominican at Pink Games to learning dance motions with my fellow classmates for Rally Day, it all brought us together. When I look around Dominican, I can see a close community of students with bonds – not just a school for learning.

At Dominican High I learned that it was OK to be a strong woman, not afraid to express thoughts, ideas, and opinions. That has been so important in my social justice work which demands that I be an advocate for justice with and for marginalized people even when – and especially when – there are so many dissenting voices trying to drown out the voices of those crying out for equity and belonging.

There are no short cuts. Do the work. Put in the time. Be a team player. Be a leader, but also a team builder. Keep the Dominican ‘girl’ in your heart and try not to stop having fun in the process!

Be present in the present. It is so easy to look ahead and be consumed with what is next. While you can plan and prepare, high school is such an amazing time in your life, so be there for it. Be a part of the things you are passionate about, discover what you enjoy learning, and make time for fun. Know that things can always change. I have had so many different twists and turns throughout my career, many of which I could have never planned for or anticipated. It’s okay to go in a different direction or try something new.”

Catholic Composer, Recording Artist, and Music Minister
The faith formation at Dominican was one of the most influential aspects in my ministry as a Catholic artist, composer, and music director. In grammar school, I learned my prayers; but, at Dominican, I learned to pray. Celebrations of the Mass were some of my greatest memories. Dominican was a safe place to be proudly Catholic, and there was comfort with living the truth of the Gospel among hundreds of young women.

When I started at Dominican, I only knew two people from my grammar school. Even though it was difficult in the beginning, the countless opportunities to join extracurriculars and activities allowed me to meet people and make life-long friends. So, my advice to you would be to get involved and truly experience Dominican.

My Dominican education has instilled in me a spirit of excellence and motivation to strive as far as I can within my field. It has allowed me to do many things in my career where both faith and service intersect. Because of Dominican, I have been able to walk boldly in the face of adversity and know that I can do anything I put my mind to.

A Dominican graduate values life-long learning and pursues excellence, not only as an end but to serve our community. I have been honored to coordinate the Washington D.C. chapter where I am able to see our graduates always learning and striving for excellence for their community and country. It is a blessing to be able to meet current Dominican students when they travel to Washington D.C. for Close-Up and March for Life. The Dominican community stays steadfast and strong in their ways as we continue to support each other.

I was very involved in extracurricular activities at Dominican and held officer positions as well. Having that experience early in life has definitely helped me in my career now. As an HR Manager, I am in a position to provide a great onboarding process for any new hires coming to our company, and I also oversee all training programs. Having my leadership roles at Dominican has given me a head start to my career now.
