City Without Walls (cWOW) is New Jersey’s oldest not-for-profit alternative art space, operating in Newark since 1975. As an urban gallery, cWOW advances the careers of emerging artists while cultivating an audience for contemporary art through on-site, online, and traveling exhibitions.

We offer comprehensive programs designed to support artists and the community. This includes an online artist registry, educational opportunities, and hands-on mentorships, such as pairing high school students with working artists through gallery internships. Furthermore, cWOW runs a cutting-edge apprentice program that introduces Newark youth to innovative digital art practices (film, animation, game design, and 3D works).
