The Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee, founded in 1916, is one of the nation's oldest public interest law firms dedicated to preventing injustice. We provide free legal assistance to low-income Milwaukee County residents facing civil legal problems.

We focus on urgent community needs, including critical housing matters, health care advanced directives, and basic estate planning. During the COVID-19 crisis, we provided essential support. We actively challenge abuse of power and support the community, partnering with local organizations like the Marquette Volunteer Lawyers Clinic and the MacCannon Brown Homeless Sanctuary.
